2011 – 2012 Annual Report

The first ever annual report of the Dunlap Institute describes the institute’s evolution from the David Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill, which opened in 1935, to the Dunlap Institute, which opened its doors on the St. George campus of the University of Toronto in 2008.

The report details the observational research we are conducting into exoplanets, dark matter and galaxies from the early Universe; and the innovative and groundbreaking instrumentation we are developing for the most sophisticated and largest telescopes in the world. It also describes our educational programs that are producing the next generation of astronomers, as well as our public outreach programs that ensure the public’s continued passion for astronomy.
